Attention Readers: MH4C Book Club

When I was in high school my teachers were quite concerned because I never really developed a love for reading. When we would go on family vacations I would get so frustrated because all my parents and brothers wanted to do was lay around and read. I wanted to get out and play. Sometime after high school I recognized the value of reading. Ever since I started reading I have grown to love it because it opens the door to so much learning.

Starting in October I am going to be reading through one personal finance book each month and I would like to invite you to join me. One day a week or every other week, depending on the content of the book, I will share some insights and lessons from the selected book. If you are reading along you are encouraged to share your insights, impressions, and comments. By the middle of the preceding month I’ll let you know what book I’ll be reading next.

The book for October is going to be Your Money or Your Life: 9 Steps to Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence: Revised and Updated for the 21st Century by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin.

This book comes highly recommended, it is #4 on the list of the top 88 personal finance books, and the first few pages introduce some very thought provoking concepts. If you wish to buy the book and read along, I suggest you read about how to get the best price when buying books online.

If you don’t think you have the money, you might try and get to your local library and check it out. Otherwise, it is always an option to buy the book and then resell it after you have read it. I bought my copy on half.com for less than $5.00 with shipping, so it’s not like you have to break the bank to get your own copy.
