I'd agree that it is very important to be active in the tax preparation process even if you use the services of a tax preparer. Because, at the end of the day, you are also responsible for any mistakes made on the tax return. But, I also think that some of the mistakes occur because the taxpayer doesn't do enough due diligence when selecting a tax preparer and doesn't re-evaluate them each year.
