Very well written, and I agree that is nice to hear from someone with true experiences.

I think you are spot on, the difference in health care in the US and other countries is more like blue verses teal... my wife is from another country. Her grandmother recently had major surgery and it went great, and she recovered just fine. The cost was about a tenth of what it would be in the USA.

Our healthcare costs are out of control, and will continue to go higher. I don't know that I agree with the Obama plan in full, but I think the system needs review.

The current reform is established around intitlement, thinking that someone else should pay for what I deserve. I'm certain that this mindset is disasterous on personal finance and will result in the same on a larger scale.

Excellent, well balanced and reasonable post. It is nice to hear someone who actually knows. It seems the difference is greater with specialty cases, more than routine medicine.

My uncle lives in England, where they have sociaized medical care. He had to wait three months to SEE the doctor about his hernia and he put his life on hold for months after that waiting for a surgery date. He even cancelled a US visit. When the (US) doctor found a hernia on my son, it was operated on in about a month.
