I’m Back Home: Roundup

by Craig

I’m back in PNG.  For the last four consecutive Sundays I’ve gone to church in a different country (PNG, Canada, USA, Australia).

In my first 10 days during this trip, I spent 75 hours in planes and airports.  Over the last 9 days, I spent a lot of time with my wife and kids.

It feels great being back home.

Of course, with all those hours to think, I’ve decided to make some changes at Money Help For Christians (MH4C).

Announcements

Change #1: Posting Schedule and Time

Effective immediately (I hope this sounds like an official press release) MH4C will be posting on Monday (anything goes finance), Wednesday (Bible and Money or Christian related topic), and Friday (roundup).  I’ll randomly be posting some on Tuesday and Thursdays.  Those will be days for guest posts and short random posts, but I just don’t want you to expect anything on those days.

Also, when I post articles, I’ll be posting at 3 p.m. EST.

Change #2: Staff Writing

I’m making a change in some of my staff writing.  First, I’ll no longer be posting articles at Bible Money Matters.  I’ve posted articles at BMM for almost a year and I’m extremely thankful to Peter Anderson over at BMM who allowed me to write for him.  Second, I’ve accepted a staff writing position at Wisebread.  I accepted that staff writing position because I think it will give extra exposure to MH4C.  In addition, I’ll continue to write for Moolanomy and Christianpf

Change #3: Monetization Attitude Check

Monetization is the act of monetizing.  Helpful, right?  Monetization is making money.  I’ve had several mental blocks that have hindered me from making money at MH4C.  However, I’ve been reminded that this blog can be content rich, you can be served and blessed, AND I can make money.  I’m no longer going to be shy about the fact that it is my goal for MH4C and other writing projects to cover a large portion of my income in the next 18-24 months.

I’ll still give you a ton of free material, but you might see a few more ads on the site.  I’ll still give you a massive amount of practical advice, but you might see a few more product reviews.  As always, I won’t make any money doing anything that I don’t believe has the potential to help you or bless you.

Good Articles On The Web (from my fellow Money Maven Writers)

Joetaxpayer introduces us to Evernote on the iPad.  Evernote is one of my most frequently used applications on my computer.  The only programs I use more frequently (aside from email and internet) are Windows Live Writer and the Libronix Digital Library System (a Bible study program on steroids).

Enemy of Debt shares a Debt Free Interview.  If you’re on the debt free journey, you’ll want to read this article.

Canadian Finance Blog shares some of the factors surrounding a housing bubble.  While housing markets remain low in North America, our housing market in Alotau is still competitive.  There is something about 3-4 houses for sale at a time that gives people a good seller’s edge.

We all know how expensive college education can be.  Wealth Pilgrim deals with the topic and the question.

Fiscal Geek introduces us to zero based budgeting.  I read this article a few weeks ago while doing some research for my upcoming eBook called The Secret To A Successful Budget: Proven Tips For Creating A Budget That Lasts (More Than A Week).  By the way, I had planned to release the book mid-June, but due to some additional writing opportunities, I’ve decided to delay the book’s release.

Green Panda Treehouse has a list of the Best Personal Finance Ebooks From Bloggers.  Some of the books are paid, and some are free.  All the books will help you learn about personal finances.

The Oblivious Investor shares some Roth IRA withdrawal rules.  Hey, you put all that money in, so you might as well learn how to take it out at some point without fees.
