As for the ring I’d say that it should be proportional to ones income, love language, and personality. In my case we spend $300 for my wife’s wedding ring, engagement ring, and my wedding ring. We were both extremely happy with the purchase and now almost 10 years later we are still married. I know one couple who spend $5 each on their wedding rings – still married. However, for some the ring is really important. I’d lump it in with the wedding costs and I would also be sure I could pay cash for the ring.
